  • What is The Tattoo Process?
The first thing you should do is think about what you want to have tattooed on you. (it's on you forever) Do some research . Look online, in books, or anywhere else you can think of. Remember it does NOT have to be the exact image / lettering you want, it just have to give us the idea you have. It should show us examples of the style you like, size, and coloring. Appointments require a $50.00 deposit. That will come off the price of your tattoo. Once you have all your ideas stop in one or our studios or give us a call and speak with our receptionist. The receptionist can either book your appointment or can schedule you a consolation with an artist if there are details of the tattoo you would like to discuss with the artist. But know at The Pittsburgh Tattoo Studio EVERY person is extremely knowledgeable about EVERY aspect of the business. Now It's our job to create a tattoo based off the examples you provide us. Once you approve the drawing and size you will come in to one of our private stations and the tattoo will begin. As you enter the station you will notice individually packaged and sterilized tattoo needles and tubes. All tattoo ink needed for your tattoo will be poured into individual disposable ink caps. You will see that the artist has covered their spray bottles, clip cords and anything else they will be handling during your tattoo with a plastic barrier to prevent cross contamination. Once the process begins the area of the body where the tattoo is going is prepped by disinfecting the skin and shaving if it is needed. Then a tattoo stencil is applied, remember it's your tattoo the stencil can be moved as many times as you like, you have to love where it is. After flexing and posing in the mirror you will approve the placement and the tattoo will begin. After the tattoo is finished you will take a look at it and probably also take a picture of it. Then your artist will bandage it and go over the aftercare with you. Leave the bandage for the next few hours, if you are going to be out for a while wait until you get home to take it off.
